New Constitution with Hiohio
We don't know much about these guys. What we do know is that this is nine years in the making. And one of the members had to fly back to the U.S. from Sweden to make it happen. Looking forward to this one. Here is a write up of the show: The New Constitution (x-Wolfie, Firebird Band, Prairie Cartel) to play rare Chicago-area reunion show; their first performance since disbanding in 2005. Between 2001-2005 The New Constitution were a staple in Chicago's local live music scene. Their debut (On 4, 2003) blended equal parts Chuck Berry, early '70s Badfinger and modern-day Sloan in a recipe of immediately-catchy and well-versed power pop. AllMusic dropped 4.5/5 stars stating, "This is a strong, almost stunning debut by a pop band that fans of modern power pop should be hip to" while Pop Matters clarified, "It’s an album driven by the same feelings that have led so many teenagers to pick up guitars and plug them into amps over the last 40 or so years." Dan Brown (bass/vocals), Mike Downey (guitar/vocals), Dan Marsden (drums), Mike Marsden (guitar) promise a set of songs spanning their somewhat short, yet productive stint. As Downey has been living abroad since the band called it quits, this is most definitely a rare chance to see The New Constitution bang it out one more time.
